CHARACTERISTICS OF EXCITING WORSHIP

Exciting worship is _________________________

“The horse and its rider he has hurled into the sea.” Exodus 15:1b

Exciting worship articulates what you are ________________ about God

“The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.” Exodus 15:3

“Who among the gods is like you, O Lord? Who is like you- majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?” Exodus 15:11

Exciting worship predicts ____________________________

“In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.” Exodus 15:13

How do I have this kind of worship?

The key: __________________

5 QUESTIONS YOU NEED TO ASK GOD

1. Who __________________?

“But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?'” Exodus 3:11

GOD’S RESPONSE:

2. OK, God, so who ____________________?

Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” Exodus 3:13

GOD’S RESPONSE:

3. What if I’m ____________________?

Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you’?” Exodus 4:1

GOD’S RESPONSE:

4. What about my ________________________?

Moses said to the Lord, “O Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” Exodus 4:10

GOD’S RESPONSE:

5. Will I ___________________?

But Moses said, “O Lord, please send someone else to do it.” Exodus 4:13

DISAPPOINTMENT WITH CHRISTIANS

Jesus’ anger was directed toward religious ___________________

“You hypocrites….!”

” Your hearts are far from me.” Matthew 15:8 (NIV)

“Inside there is nothing but greed and selfishness.” Mt 23:25 (CEV)

” You’re like tombs that have been whitewashed.” Mt 23:27 (CEV)

“Outside you look good, but inside you are evil…” Mt 23:28 (CEV)

“You are snakes! A family of poisonous snakes!” Mt 23:33 (NCV)

Your Challenge:

Get to know the __________________ Jesus!

“You are a Jew,” she replied, “and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink of water when Jews and Samaritans won’t have anything to do with each other?” John 4:9 (CEV)

“He replied, ‘If you only knew what a wonderful gift God has for you, and who I am, you would ask me for some living water!'” John 4:10 (The Living Bible)

How?

1. Read the _____________________

“Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write a careful account for you…” Luke 1:1-3 (NLT)

2. Get to know ______________________ followers of Jesus

“Not all who sound religious are really godly people. They may refer to me as ‘Lord,’ but still won’t get to heaven. For the decisive question is whether they obey my Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21 (The Living Bible)

DISAPPOINTMENT WITH GOD

“‘I have no husband,’ she replied. Jesus said to her, ‘You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.'” John 4:17-18 (NIV)

Your Challenge:

Express your ______________________ to God

Moses: “I am your servant, Lord, so why are you doing this to me? What have I done to deserve this?” Numbers 11:11 (CEV)

David: “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?” Psalm 22:1 (NLT)

Ask God, “How have You been ___________________ me?

IN EITHER CASE…

_______________ your friends and family who don’t know Jesus

to experience what He is doing in your life.

“So the woman left her water jar and went away into town and said to the people, ‘Come, see a man who told me all that I ever did. Can this be the Christ?’ They went out of the town and were coming to him.” John 4:28-30 (ESV)

Isaiah 6:1-8

Pastor John Fanous

March 2, 2008

“They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.” Romans 1:25 (ESV)

Two definitions of worship:

1. To _______________________
2. To _______________________________________

We all worship something!

What do I worship? Ask myself,

“What do I think about _________________?”

One block that prevents us from worshiping God:

Not feeling “______________” enough
DEALING WITH THE GUILT BLOCK

1. FACE ________________________

“In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. And one called to another and said: ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!’ And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke And I said: ‘Woe is me!'” Isaiah 6:1-5a (ESV)

2. ADMIT TO GOD _____________________________

“For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!'” Isaiah 6:5b

3. ACCEPT GOD’S _______________________

“Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. And he touched my mouth and said: ‘Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.'” Isaiah 6:6-7

4. VOLUNTEER TO TELL OTHERS ABOUT GOD’S _______________________

“And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.'” Isaiah 6:8
