John Fanous is husband to Beckie and father to Nathan and Eli. After graduating from college, John worked in the computer industry for five years. From there, he started working with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, a Christian ministry to college students. While with InterVarsity, he spent three years working with students at UC Berkeley and five years at San Francisco State University.
In 2005, God began to plant the idea in John’s heart to start a church that would be good news to its community. After getting approved for church planting by the Evangelical Covenant Church, he and his family moved to Antioch in 2006 to meet with several other families and to prepare for the start of Edgewater Covenant Church. Edgewater celebrated its Grand Opening in September 2008.
John’s hobbies are frisbee, volleyball, playing piano, reading, catching up with friends, going on dates with his wife, playing with his boys, and watching movies. He has a M.A. in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary and is a licensed minister with the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Peter Gothold is the Worship Arts Director at Edgewater. He has been using his gift of music from a very young age. Growing up in a family of church musicians, it was not surprising to see his dreams and passions beginning to lean towards a ministry involved in music. As worship leader for the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship chapter at the University of the Pacific, God began to nourish and help develop the skills and desire to lead others into the presence of God through worship of all different styles and formats. He is determined to reflect, to the best of his ability, the creativity of our supremely creative God.

Peter is married to Paola, and they lovingly care for Ella, their cat. He enjoys playing several instruments, singing, reading, watching movies with Paola, and any sort of technology. He has a B.A. in Music from the University of the Pacific, with a minor in Classics with an emphasis in Ancient Greek. He loves words and definitions, and has been known to time himself on crossword puzzles…
